Terms of Service

Last updated: April 30, 2026. Plain-language summary first, then the legal terms. Where they conflict, the legal terms control.

The short version

  • Use Snapshot Scoring to score real matches. Don’t use it to harass people, run scams, or break the law.
  • You own your match data. We provide the tools.
  • The app and WordPress plugin are free. No paid tiers, no “Premium” version.
  • If you import a third-party file (e.g., a PractiScore .psc file), you warrant you have authority to share that data.
  • We may suspend accounts that abuse the system, attack our infrastructure, or violate range/discipline rules in a way that affects other users.
  • The software is provided as-is. We do our best, but we’re not liable for missed scores, lost matches, or your match director’s bad calls.

Acceptance of terms

By creating an account, installing the app, or installing the WordPress publishing plugin (snapshot-results v2.6.1 or later), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Younger shooters (e.g. SASS Buckaroo, junior divisions) must have an account created and managed by a parent or legal guardian.

Account responsibilities

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@snapshotscoring.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service to harass, threaten, or defame anyone.
  • Submit false match data, manipulate scores, or impersonate other shooters.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
  • Use the service to violate SASS, USPSA, IDPA, or other discipline rules — or any applicable laws.
  • Upload third-party data files (e.g., PractiScore .psc exports) that you do not have lawful authority to share.

Match data ownership

You own the match data you create. By publishing a match through the WordPress integration, you grant your club (and the public, where the leaderboard is public-facing) the right to display that data. We grant ourselves a limited license to host, transmit, and back up your data so the service can function.

Third-party file imports

Snapshot Scoring supports importing match data from PractiScore .psc SQLite files (and, on request, SASS Premier and Round-Up Scoring System file formats). We treat these as user-supplied data: we parse the file as a standard database, never circumvent encryption or access controls, never auto-download files from third-party services, and only accept files you explicitly upload.

By uploading any third-party file containing match or shooter data, you represent and warrant that:

  • You have lawful authority to share the data (as match director, club administrator, or with explicit shooter consent under your club’s membership agreements);
  • The shooters in the data have been informed, through your club’s data processing agreements or directly, that their match data is being processed by Snapshot Scoring;
  • Your upload does not violate the original source platform’s terms of service in a way you have actual knowledge of (e.g., we don’t require you to read every other vendor’s ToS, but if you know your upload would breach one, please don’t do it);
  • You will indemnify and hold Snapshot Scoring harmless from claims arising from your unauthorized import of third-party data.

Imported data is logged to the match’s audit trail with the source filename and timestamp, so chain of custody is preserved. We do not modify or alter the imported data beyond mapping it onto our schema. If you import a match, the imported records are your data — subject to the same access, export, correction, and deletion rights as data scored natively on Snapshot Scoring.

Cost

The app and the WordPress plugin (snapshot-results, currently v2.6.1) are free. There’s no setup fee, no per-match fee, no subscription, and no “Premium” tier. If that ever changes, it will only apply to new users going forward and we’ll update these terms with at least 30 days’ advance notice.

Termination

You can close your account at any time from account settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms — particularly the acceptable-use section — with notice except in cases of ongoing abuse where immediate action is necessary.

Disclaimer of warranties

Snapshot Scoring is provided “as is” and “as available.” We don’t warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scoring data will be retained indefinitely. We strongly recommend exporting locked match results periodically for your own records.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Snapshot Scoring is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from use of the service — including lost match data, missed scoring opportunities, or disputes between users. Because the service is provided free of charge, no direct damages claim exceeds USD $0.
