Match results have a habit of living in a Facebook post, a PDF nobody can find, or a spreadsheet on the range officer’s laptop. Here’s what you can keep for yourself today, what you can’t, and where the line falls.
What you can keep on your own, starting now
These live on your account, not your club’s. Create an account at app.snapshotscoring.com/register and they work immediately.
Practice log
Every entry records a drill type — draw, reload, transition, movement, accuracy, or one you name yourself — with the time, an optional round count, which firearm (pistol, rifle, shotgun or multiple), where you were, and a note. The log keeps stats across entries, so the question “is this actually getting faster, or does it just feel like it” has an answer.
Equipment and loadouts
Your firearms and gear on file, grouped into named loadouts. Useful for the same reason a packing list is useful: the cost of forgetting isn’t noticing until you’re at the range.
What you can’t keep on your own
Your match record isn’t yours to create. Scores come from whoever scored the match, so the parts of Snapshot Scoring that hold your competitive history stay empty until a club you shoot runs its matches here:
- My Scores, stage by stage
- Career statistics and performance trends
- Classifier tracking
- Circuit standings across a multi-club season
We could let you type your own results in. We don’t, deliberately — a self-entered record that sits next to scored results looks like the same thing and isn’t, and once one shooter’s numbers are unverifiable none of them mean much.
Getting the rest of it
It comes down to your club. When a club runs a match on Snapshot Scoring, results are published to its own site and every shooter’s record fills in behind it — not just for that match, but from then on.
If your club still scores on paper or a spreadsheet, put it forward. We won’t approach them cold, and clubs that run a match with us before the iPhone app is on the App Store are founding clubs and keep full access free for life.
